This Privacy Policy explains what Humbler and Harness DBA Knotty Restraints ("Knotty Restraints," "we," "us") collects when you use knottyrestraints.com, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We sell adult products. We take discretion seriously. Read this the same way you would expect us to handle your order: plainly, without marketing fluff.
By using this site you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site. Our Terms and Conditions of Use also apply.
1. Who We Are
Site owner and operator: Humbler and Harness DBA Knotty Restraints, a California business.
Mailing address: 528 Tivoli Ct., Hemet, CA 92543
Email: ew.feet@knottyrestraints.com
Phone: (213) 679-2602
Questions about privacy go to that email. A real person reads it.
2. What This Policy Covers
This Policy covers information we collect through knottyrestraints.com, order and account activity, customer service messages, and email or newsletter signup if you choose those.
It does not control the privacy practices of our payment processor, shipping carriers, or authorized distributors who fulfill orders. Those parties have their own policies. We choose partners we believe handle payment and shipping data appropriately for adult retail, and we limit what we share with them to what is needed to process your order.
3. Information We Collect
You provide: name, email, phone, billing and shipping addresses, account password (stored hashed), order contents and notes, messages you send us, and newsletter or marketing preferences if you opt in.
Payment data: Card numbers are entered into our payment processor's hosted fields and transmitted directly to that processor over encryption. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. We may retain the last four digits, card brand, expiration month/year, authorization results, and transaction identifiers so we can identify a charge if you contact us.
Automatically collected: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, approximate location derived from IP, and cookies or similar identifiers needed for cart, login, security, and basic analytics.
From partners: shipment tracking events, fraud-screening signals, and delivery or return status from distributors and carriers.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. This site is for adults only. If we learn a minor created an account or placed an order, we will cancel it and delete the associated account data as described below.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Process, fulfill, ship, and support orders
- Send transactional email (order confirmation, shipping notices, replies to your messages)
- Screen for fraud and protect the site, customers, and payment network
- Calculate sales tax and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements
- Improve site performance and diagnose technical problems
- Send marketing email only if you opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade customer lists.
5. Who We Share With
We share information only as needed to run the store:
- Payment processor — to authorize and capture payment (PCI DSS compliant gateway)
- Authorized distributors / fulfillment partners — name, shipping address, phone, and order line items so they can ship your products
- Carriers — name and shipping address for delivery and tracking
- Hosting and email infrastructure — Hostinger and transactional email providers that process data on our behalf under our instructions
- Professional advisors and authorities — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or fraud prevention
Distributors ship in plain packaging with a neutral return address. Your billing descriptor is also neutral; see our Secure Payment page.
If we ever sell or reorganize the business, customer data may transfer to the successor as part of that transaction, still subject to this Policy or a successor policy with equivalent protections.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential cart, checkout, and login session functions
- Security and fraud prevention
- Remembering preferences (for example, language or age-gate acknowledgment where applicable)
- Limited analytics so we can see what breaks and what people actually use
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. If you block essential cookies, cart and account features may not work.
7. How Long We Keep Information
We keep order, invoice, and tax records for as long as applicable law and payment-network rules require (typically several years). Account data stays while your account is open and for a reasonable period after closure for dispute handling and legal compliance. Support emails are retained as long as needed to resolve issues and maintain a service history. Marketing lists keep your email until you unsubscribe or we delete inactive contacts.
When retention ends, we delete or de-identify the data so it can no longer reasonably identify you.
8. Security
The site is served over TLS. Passwords are stored hashed. Card data is handled by the payment processor, not by our application database. No method of transmission or storage is perfect. We take commercially reasonable steps appropriate to an adult ecommerce store of our size, and we will notify affected customers and regulators when required if a breach occurs.
9. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Update account details in your customer account
- Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in those messages
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to legal retention duties (for example, we cannot erase completed order records we must keep for tax or card-network rules)
- Request that we stop using your information for marketing
California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" as those terms are defined by California law. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a privacy request, email ew.feet@knottyrestraints.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and enough detail for us to verify you are the account or order holder. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
10. International Visitors
We currently ship only within the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S., you understand that your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
11. Children
This site is not directed to children. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if higher, to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised Policy. Material changes that affect how we use previously collected data will be highlighted on this page or by email when appropriate.
